VERNON AND HANNAH DEXTER REUNIONS

Attendance at DEVILS LAKE reunion 2012

Billie and Chuck Taylor and Tracie and Nicole Taylor HOSTED the 2012 Dexter Family reunion in Lincoln City, Oregon, at the Devils Lake State Park.

It was a great a turnout, 7o family in all, 8 visitors, the Dinner that Billie cooked of pulled pork was absolutely scrumptious. I over ate and the other food was a huge success also.

Larry and Terry Lanig went fishing and Terry cought a big mouth bass that is a lake record. Not the largest but huge.

At the end of the auction a bid for the raffle painting was won by Jackie who sold it to Orina so that she could send it to her Son Orin and his wife Zubaidah Dexter, Orins namesake.

We had some rain for one morning and the rest of the time it was cool but beautiful.

The park was a huge success, with the yurts that were rented also.

The next reunion was won by Lynn Wilhelm and Ken and Lynda Dexter. Wow they are talking Blue river, Oregon. That should be a beautiful place also.

At the reunion was Aunt Wanda, Bill and Carolyn, Marolyn, Wanetta and Bill, Janetta.

3 SISTERS IN HOOD RIVER

We call getting together a Sister Reunion, we have a brother that we need to have a reunion with also.

We went for a Saturday with Derryll to a Cherry Festival where she and Orina displayed and sold their jeweler y. It was a warm fun day.

We had a little garage sale for ourselves as we went through Derryll's garages sale items she is taking to Bend for Crystals garage sale next weekend. August 18th to 20th.

We also made ourselves some new t shirts and a scarf for the occasion.

Mostly we just hung around the house and chatted and relaxed.

We are hoping that at sometime Jackie will join us.

Reunions sense 1955

Please enjoy the blog as haphazard as it is going to be, I will keep editing it as I get more information, and if you are one of my family tree and have information you want to add just post a note.

I was only a child of 7 when we had our first family reunion, they called it Christmas in July. We had a lot of property in King Hill, Idaho and it seemed like everyone came, to me at 7 it would have been everyone.

Family stopped by for the day and family stayed with us for a while. Others lived in town or close by.

So that is the first family reunion I remember, now sense then we have had lots of small Orin & Helen Dexter Reunons. Those I always attended as I live with my mom and dad. That is just my close family.

Then I quit going to gathers of the family. Then Orin and Andy started a Vernon and Hannah Dexter Reunion again and was having it at Silver Creek Falls campground, and they were attended by the generation of my fathers siblings. And the families that could or would attend. They became 3 day campouts.

I ignored these for quite a few years as I lived in Reno and didn't feel that I needed to make the trip. I didn't feel that I knew the family. (Self centered arragance)

I attended my first one of those in 1989, stayed for a while and left. In 1992 I started attending them and haven't missed one in 18 years.

I haven't got a clue why I thought that I wouldn't fit in to this family, as I have come to know them they fit into my life just fine.

So I am going to start posting pictures of the reunions that I have attended, the Orin Dexter ones with just my sibs and their spouses and children and then the V&H reunions with My dads generations family and kids.

Family Reunion, KING HILL, IDAHO

I remember the first family reunion in King Hill, the family came from all directions, unfortunatley I don't remember who was all there, but it was when I was very young, 6 or 7 years old.

I have a recollection of some things that happened, and the fun that everyone was having.

We lived in an area and a time where our parents didn't worry about us every second they couldn't see us.

The kids and there were lots of us, would hang out at the canal, swinging in the trees, riding bycycles, running in the feilds, we had cows and one horse.

We had restrictions but we also weren't kept on a leash.
